Boys 11U Team Takes First in Xtreme Hoops Tournament

The 11u team won first place in the Xtreme Hoops "Summer Hoops Tournament" on Saturday, June 20th in Rocklin. Davis got off to a sluggish start scoring just two points in the first quarter, but came from behind to defeat the El Dorado Hills Trojans 29-21 in their first game. Kevin Austin led the Wildcats with 17 points, while Glen Welch and Gracie Aulakh contributed four points each. Aulakh and Ryan Kreidler grabbed five boards apiece and Cole Skaggs snared three.
Davis played much better in their second game, defeating the Carmichael Red Raiders 43-22. Austin drilled 24 points with Welch and Tommy McTygue each adding seven. The Wildcats rebounded well, with Kreidler snagging five boards and Aulakh and Scott Dunn each collecting four. Quinn Foster helped out with solid guard play.
In the toughest and most physical match-up of the day, Davis again came from behind and won a thriller against the Ujima Jaguars of Reno, prevailing 53-45. Austin exploded for his season-high 34 points on 10-12 shooting from the field along with 11-14 at the free throw line. Welch netted 11 points and Aulakh grabbed four rebounds. The Wildcats hit nine of twelve free throws in the critical fourth quarter to close out the tightly contested game. This was the Wildcats' fourth straight tournament championship.
