Welcome to the 2015 Nor Cal Wildcats High School basketball season!
Welcome back for another year of Wildcat basketball. 2014 was an incredible year with our teams doing very well in the biggest tournaments on the west coast. Our 16's won the Pangos Spring Spectacular in Las Vegas and followed that up with an appearance in the finals of the Double pump Best of Summer tournament in Anaheim. Our 17's had a very strong showing in the biggest event of the year at the Bigfoot Las Vegas Classic in July in the invitational division playing in front of hundreds of college coaches. Our 17's also went undefeated against Norcal teams last year finishing as one of the top rated teams on the west coast. A big thank you to all the players and coaches for their commitment and hard work and to the parents for all the support. We are looking forward to a great spring and summer 2015.
We will be offering 2 teams in the following divisions:
15U, 16U, and 17U Elite teams – These teams will play in Showcase events in the Spring and July. We will have one out going senior team.
The emphasis of our program is to improve the skills of all our High School athletes. Playing games is important, and certainly fun but real results come from the work done in the gym when nobody is in the stands. As such, we are excited to announce we are continuing our skill development training program into our workouts! This is an incredible opportunity for all of our players to work with certified professional trainers to improve their skills. No other AAU Clubs will be offering this type of training to their players. Players will experience tremendous improvement in their basketball skills by being part of Nor Cal Wildcats High School program. All of our coaches have extensive coaching experience and success. We have current and former college coaches. No other program in the state of California offers this unique experience for players to train, practice, and play with this level of experienced Coaches and Trainers. We will be playing in all 5 NCAA Viewing periods (2 in April, and 3 in July). If you are looking to take your game to the next level and want to play collegiately, we look forward to seeing you at tryouts. Remember our motto "We are here to get better!"
Skill training and Tryouts will take place at TBD(Check website for times and locations www.norcalwildcats.com). Please wear a light/dark reversible jersey and bring a basketball and water. All players must bring a signed tryout waiver form (found online under “Forms” tab) to participate.
The season will run from March through July, with no tourneys during June (due to school team practices and tournaments). Practices will be held mainly on weekends in the sacramento area. Always check the web calendar for updates to your team’s schedule.
TENTATIVE SCHEDULE and Tryout Dates - Times and locations TBD
Our popular Summer Hoops Basketball Camp will be June 22-25, 2015. It will be held at Davis High School gym.
WILDCATS SKILLS CAMP
2nd - 5th Grade
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
The Wildcats Skills Camp will focus on the fundamentals of basketball in a fun environment mixed with competitive games and drills. Because this session is designed for younger players, less emphasis will be on the advanced concepts but rather on the fundamentals. The primary goal is to establish the necessities that every young basketball player needs in his/her game. Examples of drills that we will do are: Mikan drill, speed layups, dribble tag, “Coach Says,” and other fun games that incorporate basketball specific movements. For three hours, players will be immersed in more of a camp-like environment, mixing basketball and fun together!
WILDCATS SKILLS ACADEMY
5th - 9th Grade
1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
The Wildcats Skills Academy is for older players who have already learned the fundamentals and are looking to take their game to the next level. This session will be fast-paced, fitting in a lot of concepts into two hours of work. Each hour we will focus on a set of skills and train them in a variety of drills, competitions, and game actions. Examples of this are: dribble moves, finishing at the basket, and shooting to score. This session is for the serious player that wants to get better and expand their game.
