12U Boys Win Rumble in Rocktown

The Davis Wildcats 12U basketball team earned first place in the "Rumble in Rocktown" tournament at Hardwood Palace on May 22nd. In their first game, Davis cooled off the Chico Blazin' Heat 41-25. Kevin Austin drained 15 points in the contest with Patrick Ganaway supplying six and Tommy McTygue five. The Wildcats played tough defense in their second game, defeating Carson Valley 51-26. Austin netted 14 points while Mitch Williams and Diego Reyes each provided seven. Chris Gregory sank six points and grabbed five rebounds. Matt Cheung scored five and dished five assists. In the championship game, Davis capitalized on a strong 4th quarter to knock off Xtreme Hoops 40-23. Austin led his team with 21 points and six rebounds. Cheung scored 11 points while Reyes forced seven turnovers and snagged five boards.


12U Team 2nd in Elite 8

The 12U boys team earned 2nd place in the Elite 8 Tournament in Stockton on Saturday. The Wildcats defeated the Roadrunners 38-37 in a thrilling double-overtime game. Kevin Austin scored 14 points and Diego Reyes had five. Matt Cheung netted five points while Reese Peterson sank four and collected six rebounds. Tommy McTygue (four points), Ben Prussel (two points), and Gracie Aulakh (two points) rounded out the scoring. In their second game, Davis defeated Delta Elite 43-28. Cheung led all scorers with 11 points, McTygue netted ten, and Mitch Williams dropped in eight and dished four assists. Reyes provided six points and seven rebounds, and Stephan Gelpi grabbed four rebounds and sank two points. The Wildcats fell in the championship game to the Red Raiders, 40-26. McTygue scored nine points with Cheung and Reyes each contributing five.


Boys 12U Team Wins Chico Showcase Tournament

The Davis Hoops Wildcats 12u basketball team captured first place in their division in this past weekend's (April 10 and 11) Chico Springtime Showcase tournament.

In their first game, Davis defeated the Redding Triple Threat 64-34. Point guard Kevin Austin scored 21 points while Tommy McTygue and Diego Reyes each scored eight. Glen Welch (five assists), Reese Peterson, and Patrick Ganaway each contributed six points, and Stephan Gelpi added five points and five rebounds in the convincing win.

In their second game, the Wildcats knocked off the Chico Tarheels 51-20. Austin (15 points) and Welch (14 points) led all scorers. Mitch Williams sank eight points and Quinn Foster scored four.

Davis prevailed over the Chico Wildcats in the championship game 56-36. After a 26-26 halftime score, Davis used a 21-point third quarter to build a lead they would not relinquish. Austin scored a game-high 23 points and Welch drilled 14. Gelpi had three steals and Peterson contributed ten points and four rebounds in the second half to help propel the Davis Wildcats to their second Chico championship in as many years.


Boys 12U Takes 3rd in Sac Area Sports Divsion 1 Tournament

The 12u Davis Wildcats basketball team took 3rd place in the Sac Area Sports Division 1 Tournament on Saturday, March 21st. Davis lost their first game to Folsom Force Red 50-34. Kevin Austin led the scoring with 18 points and Ryan Kreidler netted nine. Scott Dunn, Quinn Foster, and Mitch Williams each scored two. The Wildcats came up short against eventual tournament champion Spirit Got Game, losing 52-44 despite Austin's 25 points. Kreidler sank eight points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Williams and Matt Cheung each dropped in four. Patrick Ganaway scored two points and had three rebounds. The Wildcats' balanced attack helped them secure the win over the Hurricanes in their final game 46-37. Austin hit 19 points, Kreidler provided ten points and six boards, Stephan Gelpi scored seven points, Williams contributed three points and seven assists, and Ben Prussel scored three points for the Wildcats.


Boys 12U Team Wins "March Madness" Tourney

The Davis Wildcats 12u team used a stifling press and a relentless fast break to go undefeated on Saturday in the March Madness tournament in Lodi. Davis soundly defeated the Lodi Flying Tigers in their first game 45-21. Glen Welch and Matt Cheung led all scorers with 10 points each. Kevin Austin scored seven points and Ryan Kreidler contributed six points, five steals, and 12 rebounds. In their second game, the Wildcats beat Sutter Creek 57-26 behind Austin's 19 points, three assists, and five rebounds. Gavin Cosgrave netted seven points and snagged five boards, and Stephan Gelpi added four points. Kreidler and Diego Reyes each scored six. In the championship game, Davis continued to dominate over the Lodi Nitro, winning 51-25. Welch drilled 16 points and Tommy McTygue drained ten points to pace the Wildcats. Austin and Cheung each scored eight points in the victory, and Patrick Ganaway provided seven rebounds and three assists. Gelpi scored two points and secured three rebounds. Guard Mitch Williams helped push the pace of all three games.


Boys 12U Team Takes First in Nor Cal Hoops Tourney!

 

 

The 12U "Red" team took home first place in the Nor Cal Hoops tournament in Lodi on Saturday, February 27th. Davis crushed Cal Elite in its first game 37-6. Kevin Austin scored 13 points and had six rebounds. Tommy McTygue dropped in seven points and Ryan Kreidler added six. Gavin Cosgrave grabbed ten rebounds and Mitch Williams dished five assists in the blowout.

In the toughest game of the day, the Wildcats eeked out a victory over the Lodi Flying Tigers 41-38. Austin scored nine of his game-high 21 points in the pivotal fourth quarter to go along with three steals and four rebounds. Kreidler netted nine points and McTygue tallied five. Cosgrave and Matt Cheung each contributed three. Gelpi contributed a key steal in the fourth quarter to help the Wildcats preserve the win.

Davis defeated the Lodi Nitro in their third game 38-21 to secure first place. Austin (13 points) and Glen Welch (9 points) paced the Wildcats, with Cheung and Stephan Gelpi each adding five points. Kreidler snatched eight rebounds in a strong defensive effort, with Austin and Gelpi each grabbing 4 boards.


12U Boys Take First in Xtreme Hoops "Super Bowl Bash" Tournament

The 12U "Red" team took first place in the Xtreme Hoops "Super Bowl Bash" tournament in Rocklin on Saturday, February 6th. Davis defeated Napa 52-22 behind Kevin Austin's 24 points. Patrick Ganaway sank eight points and had four rebounds. Gavin Cosgrave and Glen Welch each netted five.

The Wildcats followed up with a dominating victory against Carson Valley by a score of 54-19. Austin dropped in ten points while Mitch Williams scored his season-high nine points to go along with three assists. Ganaway scored eight, Welch and Kreidler each had seven, and Quinn Foster contributed six.

The championship game was a hard-fought team effort in which Davis defeated the El Dorado Hills Trojans 41-39. After mustering just 14 first-half points, the Wildcats came alive in the second half with Austin hitting 12 of his 17 points and Welch drilling 11 of his 13, including two key late fourth-quarter free throws. Ganaway scored five points in the game with Cosgrave and Kreidler each contributing three. However, it was Ganaway snagging three rebounds, Cosgrave grabbing five, and Kreidler hauling in 12 that helped the Wildcats secure their first tournament championship of the season.


Boys 12U Falls Short 51-50 in Shootout in Rocklin, Bounces But Bounces Back in the Second Game to Take Delta Team!

The 12u Davis Wildcats Red won one of three games in the Above the Rim tournament in Rocklin on Saturday. Against the J-Ballarz, Davis came up just short 51-50 after relinquishing an early 14-point lead. Kevin Austin led all scorers with 25 points, including 10-12 from the charity stripe. Glen Welch sank 17 points and grabbed four rebounds. Tommy McTygue scored 4 points and snagged four boards as well.

The Wildcats bounced back in their second game, defeating the Delta Runnin' Rebels 43-24 behind Austin's 21 points and Welch's 12. The 'cats were stingy on defense, dominating the boards as Gavin Cosgrave collected eight rebounds, McTygue and Reese Peterson each snagged seven, and guard Mitch Williams snatched up six.

Davis fell behind early in their third game and could not claw their way back, losing to the El Dorado Hills Trojans 49-38. Austin drilled 23 points and Welch added seven points, four rebounds, and three assists. Peterson grabbed 6 boards and Stephan Gelpi had five.


12U Team Takes 2 of 3 in Sac Area Sports Tournament

The 12u "Black" team won two of their three games in a Sac Area Sports tournament in North Highlands on Saturday, January 16th. The Wildcats defeated Beast Up from Benecia 42-21 behind Kevin Austin's 24 points on 8-15 shooting from the field and 6-7 from the charity stripe. Ryan Kreidler sank ten points and grabbed six boards. Tommy McTygue contributed four points, while Stephan Gelpi and Quinn Foster each added two. The locals lost their second game 49-39 against the Oakland Soldiers, trailing by just one at halftime but going cold in the second half. Austin led all scorers with 15 points. Gavin Cosgrave netted nine points and hauled in eight rebounds. Kreidler contributed seven points and seven boards. The Wildcats rebounded with a dominating performance against the Whitney Wildcats in their final game, winning 45-14. In a balanced attack for Davis, Cosgrave led the scoring with nine points, while Austin, McTygue, and Peterson each dropped in eight. Austin and McTygue also added four assists each. Kreidler scored six points, Mitch Williams had four, and Gelpi had two.


12U Team Rebounds in Tourny 3rd Game to Take Down the Red Raiders

The 12u Wildcats faced tough competition Saturday, January 9th playing in a tournament at the Hardwood Palace in Rocklin, losing their first two games but coming from behind to win their third. The Wildcats lost to YBA in their first game 43-25. Kevin Austin led all scorers with seven points and Glen Welch had six. Gavin Cosgrave collected six rebounds while Ryan Kreidler snagged five. In the second game, the locals lost a close game to the D1 All-Stars 39-32. Austin netted 14 points and Kreidler contributed 12 along with nine boards. Tommy McTygue snared three rebounds and dished two assists. A total team effort and a relentless second half press enabled the Wildcats to come from behind in their third game and prevail over the Red Raiders 57-42. Austin exploded for 28 points and Welch knocked down 10 to go with three key assists during a fourth quarter push in which the Wildcats outscored their opponent 23-6. Kreidler added eight points while Reese Peterson sank six. McTygue's four points rounded out the scoring for Davis.


Boys 12U Team Begins Season

The Boys 12U team, won one game and lost two in a one day tournament at the Hardwood Palace in Rocklin on Saturday, December 5th. In their first game, the Wildcats came from behind to defeat Xtreme Hoops Blue 32-30. Kevin Austin led Davis with 16 points and Glen Welch netted eight. Nathan Hassid drilled a key 3-pointer late in the game and Gavin Cosgrave hauled in five rebounds. The Wildcats struggled in their second game, falling 58-31 to the El Dorado Hills Trojans. Austin had nine points, Cosgrave snagged seven boards and sank seven points, and Welch and Ben Prussel contributed four points each. The Wildcats again came from behind in their third game against YBA White, but fell short losing 40-34. Austin cut the deficit from 12 to six late in the game by hitting a three-pointer, then stealing the inbounds pass and backing up to hit another trey. Austin's 18 points and Welch's six points were complemented by the strong rebounding of Cosgrave with eight and Cole Skaggs with four.
